Lights out due to weather storms

Donegal County Council is urging members of the public to report lighting faults as the county experienced a 21% increase in public lighting faults in recent weeks.

The increase comes as a result of the recent storms that have hit the county.

Airtricity Utility Solutions (AUS) who are contracted by Donegal County Council to maintain public lighting facilities in the county believes that these figures are likely to be compounded as a result of damage from flood waters and supply faults and that high water levels have caused significant issues.

A spokesperson for the Council said all reasonable measures to minimise the effect in the county has been undertaken with AUS staff being reallocated to address issues where required.

They added that despite these efforts, it is likely that there will be areas where public lighting assets will be out for longer periods of time.

They are both urging members of the public to report faults by calling AUS at 1850 372 772 or online at www.airtricitysolutions.com. Alternatively members of the public can also report a fault by contacting Donegal County Council at 074 91 53900 or online at www.donegalcoco.ie .
